DISC HERNIATION
Chiropractic for Disc Herniations
Herniated discs occur when a disc cushioning the vertebrae in the spine becomes damaged. This type of degenerative disc disease puts strain on nearby nerves and the spinal cord, causing pain.
Fortunately, non-invasive methods through chiropractic treatment can relieve the symptoms of this disease.

Symptoms of a Herniated Disc
Most herniated disks occur in the lower back, but they can also occur in the neck. Signs and symptoms depend on where the disk is situated and whether the disk is pressing on a nerve. Herniated disks usually affect one side of the body.
- Arm or leg pain.
- Numbness or tingling.
- Weakness.
Common Causes of a Herniated Disc
Disk herniation is most often the result of gradual, aging-related wear and tear called disk degeneration. As people age, the disks become less flexible and more prone to tearing or rupturing with even a minor strain or twist.
Most people can’t pinpoint the cause of their herniated disk. Sometimes, using the back muscles instead of the leg and thigh muscles to lift heavy objects can lead to a herniated disk, as can twisting and turning while lifting. Rarely, a traumatic event such as a fall or a blow to the back is the cause.
How We Help

Spinal Manipulation
Manual and gentle adjustments are commonly used to realign the vertebrae in your spine or joints that are out of place. This can happen for many reasons such as trauma, car accidents, slip and falls, or just regular daily activities.

Spinal Decompression
We are proud to be the only clinic in Florida to have the Anti-Gravity Decompression Chair. While in an anti-gravity position, we can reduce the pressure on your disc and nerves and increase your mobility.

Physical Therapy
Physical therapists are movement experts. They help people improve or restore mobility and reduce their pain. Through hands-on care and patient education, our Physical Therapist will improve the quality of your life.
